Introduction to Population and Housing Census

What is the Population and Housing Census?

• As a basic national statistical survey to understand the size and characteristics of all people and houses living in Korea, Statistics Korea (Statistics Korea) conducts a census of population and housing in the year of '0' and '5' every five years.
• According to the United Nations, the Census of Population and Housing is defined as the entire process of collecting, evaluating, analyzing, and providing population, economic, and sociological data related to everyone, households, and residences in a country or a certain area at a specific time.
• Foreigners who have lived in South Korea for more than three months or who are planning to stay are obligated to participate in the investigation.
• The data you responded to is thoroughly protected by statistical law and will not be used for any purpose other than statistical purposes.

• Preparation of secondary processing statistics using census data
• Research by universities and research institutes and management data of private enterprises

Statistical Law

Article 32 of the Statistics Act (Statistics Respondent's)Duty to respond faithfully)

• Data belonging to confidentiality of individuals, corporations, or organizations collected for the preparation of statistics shall not be used for purposes other than statistics preparation.

• A person who has been a statistical worker, a person who has been a statistical statistics preparation work to engage in such work A person who has been engaged shall not use the matters he/she has learned in the course of performing his/her duties for any purpose other than his/her duties or provide them to any other person.
